Wind and solar make up less then 10% of the world’s power even if we tripled their use over the next 30 years the world would get well under a third of its power from wind and solar.

The solution to global warming has to in short term (as in the next 50 years) to include tripling the use of nuclear power as well. Otherwise we will continue to use gas, coal and oil for well over half our power needs. Eventually in next 100 years we should move to using near 100 percent renewables and we can phase out the use of nuclear energy.

There are down sides to nuclear power. However we will just have to handle safety issues and the waste as best we can in the short term. Not adressing the global warming issue is far more dire for the future.
